After being banned from the BET Cyphers last week, the 17-year-old has said that he will save his best verses for a new Christmas album titled Under The Mistletoe.
On the album he is prepared to rap alongside Busta Rhymes on a track titled Drummer Boy. He will also collaborate with Mississippi trio The Band Perry and a duet with soul and R&B singer Mariah Carey in a renewed version of her holiday standard All I Want For Christmas Is You.
In a short video posted by Justin, Mariah talks about the collaboration saying: “The song sounds great. I’m very excited for everybody to hear it this Christmas.”
Another collaboration to feature on the Christmas album is Boyz II Men. Speaking to MTV News Boyz II Men’s Nathan Morris said the group would love to team up with Justin again after recording Fa La La: “Oh, without a doubt. We just have to figure out the right circumstance.”
He continued to talk about two different genres coming together and being put on a record, describing it to be ‘special’: “This was perfect for us because, you know, we wanted to try to make sure that the first song we did together was something that people could accept the two artists doing together. … If there’s a soundtrack or whatever that comes along that we can create something special, that’ll be hot.”
The boyband were also impressed at how the teen superstar attitude was to working alongside them and the respect they have for him: “We respect him, man.
He added: “I watch what he does, I watch what the people around him do, and they’re guiding him in the right directions. You don’t hear anything bad about this guy. He has his head on straight.”
Fans will also be treated to another single with mentor and R&B singer Usher will sing on the track titled The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting On An Open Fire. This isn’t the first time they have sung on a track together on Somebody To Love Remix.
Talking to Billboard Bieber explained why he wanted to collaborate with them saying: “They’ve been really successful and great in the country world, so I wanted to get them on my Christmas album and cross some barriers and try to get some different audience members to listen to my music.”
And speaking of challenging other genres as rap and country music he expressed how lucky he was to be able to do that with the help of the internet: “I guess I can be pretty versatile – being able to do country music and put out a record of me rapping on the internet.
“I just think that with the internet, not a lot of artists can be taken seriously if they try to change lanes and so I made it kind of apparent at first that I love to do everything and people kind of take me seriously when I switch over, so I’m really lucky to be able to have that.”
And if that wasn’t enough, the Baby hit maker has recorded a track with singer Chris Brown titled Christmas Eve which was co-written and co-produced by Chris Brown.
The album Under The Mistletoe will be released November 1. The album will include a mixture of genres that will show Bieber fusing with different sounds including country & western.
