Birdman Explains Why Drake Isn’t A Part of Rich Gang & Relationship With Manny Fresh

Birdman And Sway

The latest group Rich Gang put together by Birdman and Cash Money/ Young Money has brought out a few questions. So when Birdman stopped by   MTV’s RapFix Live this week to discuss the new project, he addressed the questions that some of us have been requiring to know, especially why Chris Brown appears on the new compilation album but no Drake.

“Drake was recording out of the country, and I got songs because we’re doing a Big Tymers album. So, I said we’re gonna hold that,” Birdman explained. “We’re gonna do our Big Tymers thing. I think it will be more special. We’ll drop a Big Tymers record in September/October.”

Referring to the beef between Breezy and Drizzy which has been brewing for quite some time, Birdman says he knows “nothing about that.”

“The question you asking is what a lot of people are going to ask. [Chris Brown?] Nah, nah, nah, I ain’t got nothing to do with the Chris Brown and Drake thing,” he said. “I don’t know nothing about that. Drake’s blood. That’s my family, that’s my love and we rock with Chris, but I don’t know nothing about their differences.”

Moving on, Birdman clarified why former Cash Money producer Mannie Fresh isn’t involved in the forthcoming Big Tymers project, seeing that they worked together in the early 2000s.

“I’ve been talking to Fresh a lot. We talk every other day, we been talking about doing music; so matter of fact, we gonna get in,” Birdman revealed.

He continued: “Me and Fresh ain’t got no problem, we never had no problem. It’s been a minute and we plan on working again. Juve out here too. Ain’t nobody tripping, we’re gonna definitely work again. I was been tryin’ to do that, he didn’t wanna do it. I thought, personally, he didn’t want no part of it because it been dead. We been lettin’ it live in the grave, ain’t nobody picked it up. It was Wayne’s decision to say ‘Let’s rock with this Big Tymers,’ besides that it’s been in the grave, nobody touched it. He didn’t touch it…we didn’t touch it, because I wanted to do it years ago. But when I spoke to him, he felt different. He’s my brother, I got nothing but love for him, and we’re going to work together again soon.”

J. Cole Apologises for Autism Lyric

J Cole

J. Cole has confessed to a mistake for a lyric referring to autism in a collaboration track with Drake. The rapper has issued a sincere apology for the offensive lyric on his blog Dreamvillian in which he states, ‘You deserve medals, not disrespect’.

On the Drake supported song, Jodeci Freestyle, the Roc Nation star raps: “I’m artistic, you ni**as is autistic, retarded.” The lyric has caused outrage and anger amongst his fans, which Cole has said to have prompted complaints.

In the letter on his blog, Cole explained that an apology was ‘necessary’ after the reactions of his fans have expressed towards him.

Cole is not the first artist to cause controversy with his lyrics. Lil Wayne lost an endorsement deal with Pepsi in May because of a lyric making a crude reference about Civil Rights figure Emmett Till. Furthermore, Rick Ross was also dropped after Reebok cut ties with him after a lyric in which the rapper appeared to condone date rape.

Read his heartfelt apology below.

Autism Speaks

Recently there’s been a trend that includes rappers saying something offensive, only to be attacked for it in the media and pressured to apologize. I have to be completely honest and say there’s a part of me that resents that. I view rap similar to how I view comedy. It’s going to ruffle feathers at times. It’s going to go “too far”. I do not believe that an apology is needed every time someone is offended, especially when that apology is really only for the sake of saving an endorsement or cleaning up bad press.

With that said, this is not the case today. This letter is sincere. This apology IS necessary.

In a recent verse on the song “Jodeci Freestyle”, I said something highly offensive to people with Autism. Last week, when I first saw a comment from someone outraged about the lyric, I realized right away that what I said was wrong. I was instantly embarrassed that I would be ignorant enough to say something so hurtful. What makes the crime worse is that I should have known better.

To the entire Autism community who expressed outrage, I’m moved and inspired by your passion, and I’m amazed at how strong you are as a unit. I have now read stories online from parents about their struggles and triumphs with raising an Autistic child and I admire how incredibly strong you have to be to do so. It’s touching. It also makes what I said even more embarrassing for me. I feel real shame. You have every right to be angry.

To anyone suffering from Autism, either mildly or severely, I am sorry. I’m bound to make mistakes in my life, but in my heart I just want to spread Love.

I want to educate myself more on Autism, and I’ll gladly own my mistake and serve as an example to today’s generation that there’s nothing cool about mean-spirited comments about someone with Autism. People with this disorder and their loved ones have to go through so much already, the last thing they need is to hear something as ignorant as what I said. I understand.

To the parents who are fighting through the frustrations that must come with raising a child with severe autism, finding strength and patience that they never knew they had; to the college student with Asperger’s Syndrome; to all those overcoming Autism. You deserve medals, not disrespect. I hope you accept my sincere apology.

Much Love

Chris Brown And Drake Won’t Face Charges Over Rihanna Nightclub Brawl

Chris Brown and Drake will not be facing criminal charges after their night brawl at New York’s W.I.P club earlier this year in June.

The New York Police Department have claimed they do not have enough evidence to charge either Brown or Drake.

Though both singers won’t face any criminal charges, several civil lawsuits have been filed against the participants and the club.

W.i.P has sued Brown and Drake for $16 million. According to W.i.P.’s lawsuit against the two singers, they said: “Each ordered his security personnel, bodyguards, friends and entourage to join the fight, which erupted into a violent brawl on a massive scale.”

The two artists and their entourages were involved in a fight in W.i.P reportedly over Rihanna who has courted them both in the past, which several innocent onlookers were injured.

According to TMZ, the investigation came to a conclusion of no one to be charged with criminal charges: “The investigation into the bottle-smashing brawl at WIP nightclub on June 14th has been concluded and no criminal charges will be filed against Chris, Drake, or any member of their entourages.”

Drake’s lawyer Blair Berk said: “Drake was never even a suspect so it’s no surprise.”

It is alleged that Chris sent a bottle of champagne to Drake as a peace offering but it was returned along with a note reading, ‘I’m f*****g the love of your life, deal with it.’

The note is thought to have angered Chris, resulting in a confrontation with the Young Money rapper who the allegedly threw a punch at Chris, leading to a brawl.

Lil Wayne Says Drake’s Collaboration With Aaliyah Will Be “Awesome”

Lil Wayne has said Drake’s unreleased music with Aaliyah – who died in a plane crash in 2001 – will be an ‘awesome collaboration’.

Drake who is a big fan of Aaliyah, announced he was working on a posthumous album with her music and has already released the first single Enough Said.

Those who were close to Aaliyah before her death haven’t supported the project. Timbaland and Missy Elliott who produced a majority of the late singer’s music are not involved. DMX who co –starred with Aaliyah in Romeo Must Die and recorded a single with her has criticised the rapper’s decision working on the project.

Lil Wayne told Billboard, that he hasn’t heard the criticism or complaints and believes that Drake is making a ‘good move’.

He said: “Everybody knows what Aaliyah did and done for music and culture, period, and it’s always good to do that, for not only for people like that, just for her fans – you know what I mean? Drake’s a very thoughtful person. Everyone knows that. It’s an awesome collaboration. Her music is still awesome. It’s still better than a lot of music out right now.”

Chris Brown & Drake Agree To Fight In Charity Match?

Speculations have been raised; Chris Brown and Drake have agreed to fight out their differences in a charity fight in three one-minute rounds in 24 ounce gloves.

Chris and Drake got into a brawl when they and their entourages were present at a SoHo nightclub W.i.P. in New York earlier this year in June. The fight took place when Chris has sent over a bottle of champagne, only Drake to return a piece of paper with a message saying, ‘I’m f%*king the love of your life, deal with it’.

The response was clearly a reference towards his ex – girlfriend Rihanna, leading Chris to fly into a rage, starting a fight which apparently Drake had thrown the first punch.

Apparently the Young Money rapper and the Turn Up The Music singer have been approached by several boxing promoters – Celebrity Boxing promoter Damon Feldman being one of the many offering – to put an end to their ongoing beef in the ring. reported yesterday that the two artists have finally agreed to a fight at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on September 22.

The website even goes on to claim that Tony Parker – Eva Longoria’s ex – husband – who was present at their brawl back in June and was injured during the feud back in June, will be present to referee the fight.

As the rumours arise, representatives for Chris and Drake have denied the claims.

Chris’s spokesperson told that the singer hasn’t agreed to the fight with the YMCMB singer. The singer’s representative also said that the claims are “a sad attempt at PR for the people who were/are promoting it.”

A source close to Drake was also quick to deny the fabricated story, telling “The story is false!”

So if anyone was looking forward to a match between the two artists, it seems as though you may have to wait as the speculations have been brushed off as rumours.

Drake’s Management Sued For Unpaid Royalties?

It has been reported that Drake’s Management team could be looking at a lawsuit against them. Before Lil Wayne had discovered the Toronto rapper, it was talent scout James ‘Jas’ Prince Jr. who had first heard of the MC. And now it seems that the Houston executive wants what he claims to be his.

According to the New York Daily News, Jas Prince – son of Rap-a-Lot CEO J. Prince – has filed a lawsuit in Manhattan Supreme Court against the rapper’s management team for breaching a contract and fiduciary duty. In the lawsuit, 10 claims have been stated against the manager Cortez Bryant, Gerald “Gee” Roberson, Derrick Lawrence and the company Aspire Music Group LLC as they have refused to provide an account of what he is due.

It is well acknowledged that it was Prince who had first introduced Drake to Young Money after he had found the emcee’s music on MySpace.

In an interview with music-industry veteran Al Lindstrom he explained how he had introduced Drake to Lil Wayne: “One day while leavin the [mall], I just threw [Drake’s] CD in and let it play.

“[Lil Wayne] was like, ‘Wait … who is this?’ and I was like, ‘Drake … the guy I been tellin’ you about.’ Wayne told me to book him on the next flight to Houston.”

Since being signed to Young Money, Drizzy released 2009 breakout mixtape So Far Gone, then his debut album Thank Me Later and his sophomore album Take Care; both albums which have gained platinum.

In the lawsuit, Prince claims that Bryant verbally agreed to pay a share of the profits earned from Drake’s contract with Young Money; a deal that Bryant assisted.

Prince’s attorney, James McMillian said his client hasn’t received any royalties in over a year despite that Drake’s albums have generated millions of dollars in sales. Prince goes on to claim that Drake is also being cheated on by his management team and that Young Money Star is ‘on the brink’ is suing Aspire and Bryant who also manage Lil Wayne and Kanye West.

“We have no idea how much is owed because they are hiding behind one guy,” McMillan has said.

He went on to say that entertainment lawyer Ronald Sweeney is representing both of Drake’s managers and the record company that pays the royalties and is controlled by Lil Wayne. 5 million album copies have been sold in the last couple of years.

“It’s one big shell game,” McMillan said.

Apparently Drake’s royalty account has zilch even though his global sales “are in excess of five million units.” In an April 2012 letter from Drake’s attorney, Robert Meloni states that the rapper has received an “inexcusably delayed, incomplete, confusing and misleading”

Court papers state that Prince had demanded an accounting but was referred to Sweeney by Drake’s managers. Prince had also asked Lil Wayne’s companies for an accounting but suggested to Sweeney again.

A$AP Rocky Tells Media: “Stop Hyping Up Chris Brown & Drake’s Beef”

Musicians Chris Brown and Drake were involved in scandalous blood club fight in NYC last month with rumours suggesting it was over singer Rihanna.

The incident has appeared to have quietened down lately and neither have decided to press charges against each other. However it hasn’t stopped continuous reported surrounding their damaged friendship with even claims that they have both considered to fight in a boxing ring for $1 million dollars.

And even Goldie rapper A$AP Rocky has given his own opinion telling the media to end the exaggeration on the feud between Chris Brown and Drake.

A$AP told NecoleBitchie: “I wanna see Chris Brown and Drake squash that beef. I hate that everybody is fighting. I just want to promote positivity, for real for real.”

He continued to say that the feud is being overestimated and even gave his judgment that the media overshadows relationships positively or negatively; making or breaking them: “All of those guys are talented, it just sucks that the media is hyping this up. That’s what they did to Pac and Biggie, not saying that it’s ever that serious and to that extent, because nobody is going to die but I just feel like [the media] can make and break a lot of relationships.”

He added: “Personally, I just wish those guys would make up. Drizzy is my brother and I just wish they would cut it out.”

Does A$AP have a point?

Drake Gets Married In Las Vegas?

Andre 3000 Reveals He’s ‘Inspired’ By Drake

Andre 3000 has shocked his fans by revealing that he is inspired by newcomer Drake. In the last few years, Andre has taken a step back from the music game but it seems he has kept his eye on the change of Hip – Hop and as it happens, Drake has caught his attention.

Speaking to Fader magazine he said: “I talk to Drake, and I know he had to be like 10 when he was listening to what we were doing. You just never know who’s listening until you hear a connection. I didn’t even know Drake dug my music.”

The Atlanta rapper recently stated he was back in the studio, working on new material to release. He explained why he liked Drake, saying: “I just like him as a rapper because I feel he has a balance. I didn’t even know that he grew up listening to me. But it’s cool to know that it’s a real lineage thing. I’m happy to see Kanye and Wayne and Drake and all these new artists. They inspire me in a way because they reach back and they say, ‘Hey, we want to get you on these songs”.

He continued: “I don’t rap every day. I don’t sit around writing raps like that. And when these artists call, it’s kind of like they get me going. And I really wanna just be good for them. I want to impress them or have them be happy to say, “Okay, he did well on my song.” I don’t want to be messing their song up.”
