Katrina Kaif Dismisses Rumours About Her Red Hair Costing Rs 55 Lakh For Fitoor

Katrina Kaif has dismissed reports that it cost Rs. 55 Lakh to colour her hair red for her forthcoming film, Fitoor. She stated, “it’s not even possible.”

Talking to IANS in a telephone interview from Mumbai, the actress clarified, “I don’t even think that’s possible, even if you want to… It is all a kind of slightly sensationalised piece of news that comes out and gets highlighted, which more often than not turns out to be baseless.”

Regarding the style of her hair colour in the film, Kaif said it was the director Abhishek Kapoor’s idea, “This was an idea which Abhishek had. The thought behind it was when the leaves fall in Kashmir and the whole ground turns red… It was a symbolic connection as the colour red signifies passion, love and fire.”

Kaif who recently launched L’Oreal Paris’ new La Vie En Rose signature collection, also added, “We took a lot of pictures and a lot of discussion and once we had locked in on the hair colour, and then just took one day to do it and shot the whole film in three to four months. Then I dyed the colour back, and it was black again.”

Kaif also issued a statement denying the fabricated stories around her ‘multi – million hair colour’ which according to some media outlets, pointed out the money could have been used to fund education.

“The wonderful thing about being an actor is that people are interested in what you do. But there are also lots of misleading and untrue articles that also come out. And because I am not on any social media platform yet, I don’t have the chance to contradict every rumour.

“The team who worked on my hair, did a great job. It was a great idea put forward by Abhishek. As kind and wonderful that our producers are, I don’t think they are that kind. I don’t think I would have been very nervous had Abhishek not been very confident in supporting me.”

Filmmaker Kapoor has also runniahed aside the rumours.

In a statement of his own, Kapoor said, ”

“I can’t help but smile when I read these speculative reports of money spent on Katrina’s hair. They are outrageous. But what’s important is Katrina and Tabu (who also sports red hair) both look amazing and in my humble opinion, their hair even more so. So let’s just compliment the ladies.”

Fitoor is an adaptation of Charles Dickens’ classic novel, Great Expectations. Kaif will play Firdaus while Adaitya Roy Kaput will portray the character of Noor.

The film also casts Aditi Rao Hydari, Lara Dutta and Rahul Bhatt. Fitoor will hit the theatres on February 12.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali: “Deepika Has Never Gone Over The Top”

Deepika Padukone And Sanjay Leela Bhansali

Director of Bajirao Mastani, Sanjay Leela Bhansali has expressed his thoughts over Deepika Padukone who plays the warrior queen, stating the actress has never exaggerated or overemphasised a role in any of her films.

Talking to IANS, Bhansali said: “Mastani is someone what Madhubala and Meena Kumari did in their heydays. Deepika has never ever gone over the top. No woman has ever looked so beautiful on the Indian screen in the longest time. It’s a dear character to me.”

The historical romance which also stars Ranveer Singh as Bajirao and Priyanka Chopra as Kashibai in pivotal roles, the filmmaker also added: “…deep down my favourite character is Mastani. I would take Deepika’s performance till the last breath of my last breath. It’s that dear to me.”

When asked whether he was pleased with the box office reports for the film, which was released on December 18, and is currently battling with its rivalry Dilwale, Bhansali revealed: “I just wanted to make a beautiful film, be honest and truthful towards something which i have lived for 12 years.

“It was my tribute to Mughal-e-Azam and that was all I was thinking of while making this film. I was not thinking of the box office collection… I am offering something that is different.”

Priyanka Chopra Talks About Playing Kashibai

Priyanka Chopra

In an exclusive interview with Bollywoodlife.com, Priyanka Chopra spoke of her latest role, playing Kashibai in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Bajirao Mastani. The film which has garnered much attention has received exceptional recognition from fans and film critics alike.

The actress expressed her thoughts upon playing the pivotal role, revealing that she wouldn’t have agreed to the decisions Kashibai makes regarding Bajirao’s relationship with Mastani.

“To play a character that I don’t agree with, as a woman if my husband fell in love with someone else I would say thank you very much, goodbye! I am out! Kashi did that in her own way also, she said I love you enough to see you happy, if you are happy with her please go just don’t come back to my door, which at that time was a big deal. Kashi was forogtten in history , nobody talks about her, nobody knows of her, because Bajirao and Mastani’s story is so forbidden and so epic, and hats off to Sanjay sir for giving her such a strong voice.”

Priyanka went on to discuss, her belief in Bhansali’s cinematic creation of films was what made her determined to play the role even more, despite the director assuming she wouldn’t have accepted it.

“I always knew Kashi was an amazing role, I was the first person to be cast for the film. I remember when I was doing Mary Kom, Sanjay sir said she won’t do it, and we discussed it. For me what was wonderful about Kashi was that am a greedy Sanjay Bhansali fan, am a believer in his world and cinema. I can talk to him for hours about films and his acute understanding of human emotions and that is what Kashi was for me. I used to look forward to coming on the set all dressed up as Kashi. He throws googlys, and am an actor who loves hitting a six when its thrown at me.”

Recounting how she undertook to play Kashibai, Priyanka explained, “My instincts come on, am not a prep or a method actor, I have always been very instinctive. He has such a beautiful understanding of silences and Kashi has no words, so silences were all that I had, my eyes and face, it was like Jhilmil, there wasn’t much she could say it was the 1700′s, so it was a welcome challenge.”

Kareena Kapoor Khan And Hrithik Roshan Not Working On Sanjay Gupta’s Next

Kareena Kapoor Khan And Hrithik Roshan

The latest speculations in B –Town had the possibility of Kareena Kapoor Khan and Hrithik Roshan reuniting on the screen after 12 years.

The two actors who were much adored as a duo in Karan Johar’s Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham and Sooraj Barjatya’s Mein Prem Ki Deewani Hoon were last seen in Subhash Ghai’s Yaadein in 2003.

Sadly, Gupta took to Twitter to clarify the news. He wrote: “It would be any director’s dream come true to get Hrithik and Kareena together for a film. But we have not finalised our heroine yet.”

A source revealed to BollywoodLife.com: “Kareena was reportedly approached for the role and she even liked the script, but she declined the offer at the end.”

Prosecution Demands 5-Year Prison Sentence For Salman Khan

On December 3, 2015, the prosecution urged the Bombay High Court not to show any tolerance to Salman Khan for his participation in the 2002 hit-and-run case, for which he was convicted for in May this year.

Hindustantimes.com reports – the prosecution – while closing on their arguments, they urged that the Bollywood star to be sentenced the five-year imprisonment which he was given by a sessions court for running his car into a bakery shop in suburban Bandra, killing one man and injuring four others.

Public prosecutors, Sandeep Shinde and Purnima Kantharia argued Khan was drunk at the time of the accident and smelt of alcohol when he was brought into hospital for a medical check-up the next day.

They further dismissed the theory, Khan’s driver Ashok Singh, was driving the car at the time of the accident and had lost control of the vehicle after its tyre burst. It argued the tyre burst after the car had rammed into the bakery.

Depending on the testimony of the injured along with other circumstantial evidence, the prosecution argued Khan was behind the wheel at the time of the incident which took place on September 28, 2002.

This disputes the claim of the defence that there were three persons in the car and Khan was not driving the vehicle. The prosecution maintain that only Khan, his bodyguard and policeman Ravindra Patil, and the actor’s friend, singer Kamaal Khan were in the vehicle.

The trial court held on May 6, had the actor to be guilty of culpable homicide not amounting to murder, and is presently out on bail granted by the High Court.

Priyanka Chopra: “I Was The First Person To be Cast In Bajirao Mastani”

Priyanka Chopra

Priyanka Chopra who plays Kashibai in the highly anticipated forthcoming film Bajirao Mastani, addresses the reason why she took on to play a strong character whose existence in history has not much presence.

The actress points out, she took the challenging role for director Sanjay Leela Bhansali, being the first to be casted.

“I did this film for Sanjay Leela Bhansali. I know you all will ask me, ‘Mastani is played by Deepika (Padukone), and Bajirao is played by Ranveer (Singh). So why did you do this film?’ Let me tell you, I was the first person to be cast in this film. I remember Sanjay came to me with this script and he was clear he wanted me to do this film.”

She added: “I thought Kashibai’s character was very heart-breaking. This is a feminine character and it was very challenging for me to do the role… It’s a special film for me. I am just super excited to be part of it.”

Priyanka Chopra Kashibai

Priyanka as Kashibai for Bajirao Mastani

Playing Bajirao’s first wife – a vulnerable character – Priyanka admits it made her keen: “It is such a role that if you do it right, it will be part of your legacy. Kashibai is a 500-year-old character, with no other reference available. People talk about Bajirao and Mastani’s love story but the biggest reason to play Kashibai was to portray the story of a woman, who has never been spoken about in history. No one asks ‘uske dil pe kya beeti, uska kya hua?’ I rarely play such soft characters. Lately, I have played only tough characters, jo talvar utha ke tayyar hoti hai. Playing Jhilmil (Barfi) or Kashi is novel for me. It was a challenge to portray someone who can’t protect herself. I had to play it with conviction to make people believe that the woman’s heart was hurting.”

The period romance drama with Ranveer Singh as Bajirao, Deepika Padukone as Mastani and Priyanka Chopra as Kashibai is set to hit screens on December 18.
