Channing Tatum has announced his latest acting role to be in a Coen Brothers movie, via social media on Saturday. The 34 – year – old has been associated to Hail, Caesar! for several months but has only took to his Instagram account to confirm the news. The actor will be joining George Clooney and Scarlett Johansson.
Revealing the news to his 4.4 million followers, Tatum posted, “Holy ”Hail, Caesar!” — #ChanningTatum has officially signed on to star alongside #GeorgeClooney and #ScarlettJohansson in the #CoenBrothers’ next project, which begins filming in January.”
He added: “Described as a 1950’s period comedy ”about the movie business, life, religion and faith”, #HailCaesar hits theaters February 5, 2016!”
The movie focuses on Hollywood studio executive Eddie Mannix; a renovator in Hollywood. Written by Oscar winners Joel and Ethan Coen, will also direct the forthcoming film.
Mannix will be played by Josh Brolin, 46, who has previously worked with the Coen Brothers’ movies, No Country For Old Men and True Grit.
The movie will feature George Clooney, 53, who has also starred in the Coen Brothers’ movies, O Brother Where Art Thou and Burn After Reading.
In addition to the cast, it includes Scarlett Johansson, Ralph Fiennes, Tilda Swinton and Jonah Hill.
According to reports, Tatum has been rumoured to be lined up to play a Gene Kelly – type actor in Hail, Ceasar!.
The Coen Brothers have written and directed several critically acclaimed movies including, Barton Fink, Raising Arizona, Fargo, The Big Lebowski and Blood Simple.
