Justin Bieber is to settle his Miami arrest with a plea bargain deal that will allegedly see several of the charges against him to be dropped.
According to TMZ, the singer will reportedly plead guilty to the reckless driving charge made during his arrest in January whilst the rest of the charges will be dismissed.
The troubled star was initially charged with resisting arrest, driving under the influence, reckless driving and driving without a valid license when police officers claimed to have caught Bieber and friend Khalil drag racing in the early hours of the morning.
Since it has been reported that the singer was not drag racing or drunk on the night, he tested positive for marijuana.
TMZ reports the reason the plea deal has taken so long is due to the judge’s decision who allegedly wanted Bieber to pay for an anti – drug PSA but backed down upon resistance from both lawyers and prosecution.
Although prosecutors did, however, seem to want the singer to attend a drug and alcohol education course, but the defense argued that he does not have a substance abuse problem. And therefore taking on the course would appear to be admission that Bieber did.
A source told the website: “Bieber will plead guilty to reckless driving and the other charges will be dismissed. He’ll pay a fine and attend anger management classes. He will NOT be placed on probation.”
In the meantime, his rapper friend Khalil will also use the same plea and will not have to attend any classes.
Once Bieber and Khalil have completed the requirements of the settlement, the reckless driving conviction will be wiped from their records.
The deal is expected to be entered in court in coming weeks.
