The Saturdays’ singer Vanessa White has made a revelation of a secret struggle with alcohol. The 24 – year – old opened up about dealing with drinking in The Sun’s Fabulous magazine, admitting the problem was so bad that it began affecting her career.
She said: “My life started to spin out of control in 2010 and it was a dreadful year. I’d be out every night.”
The singer admitted: “I drank vodka mainly but, to be honest, I drank anything. It massively affected the band and I felt lonely and depressed.”
Things got so bad that Vanessa would turn up to work hungover, not being able to sing and would rely on bandmate Una to take on her solos.
She revealed that just before starting their All Fired Up tour, she turned to Rochelle for help.
After living with Rochelle for two weeks, Vanessa decided to quit and put an end her boozing.
Her disclosure comes after enjoying an alcohol – free January, only to break it on Wednesday evening.
Speaking at the Ralph Lauren for Vision Express launch party she said: “This is actually my first drink of 2014 so far, I’ve not had one all month.”
