Shah Rukh Khan has expressed his desire to bid for the Kolkata franchise of IMG-Reliance football tournament in the newly promoted IMG-Reliance league.
Revealing the news whilst making an appearance on NDTV during his interview with founder Prannoy Roy, he answered a question from a studio guest in the audience about his football ambition which he replied to, saying:
“Yes you are right. I spoke to Dempo people, they are friends, they were very kind; but now I have heard that a league system is coming. Some of this is going to chance the whole structuring, so I should wait till the league system comes. As soon as it comes, I would be the first guy to go back there and buy a football club. And you have to buy a Kolkata football club. If they allow me to…”
The teams which have been shortlisted for the auction are Delhi, Kolkata, Bangalore, Pune, Mumbai, Kochi, Chennai, Hyderabad, Goa and Guwahati.
The new tournament is scheduled between January 18 and March 30 and is expected to run on the lines of cricket’s Indian Premier League (IPL).
