The Cuckoo’s Calling was released earlier this year in April, a 450 page crime novel which was quickly portrayed as a classic crime story by the Sunday Times. Galbraith’s first novel got readers and critics alike eager and was described as an “exhilarating debut”.
However, speculations have risen around the novel’s author as it has been noticed that both Galbraith and JK Rowling have the same publisher and editor.
It appears that Robert Galbraith is a new novelist, earning a respectable critical acclaim. JK Rowling is one of the most famous authors known. And you ask what these two authors have in common? They may seemingly be worlds apart in the literature world but they are the same person.
Talking to The Times Rowling explained her reason to why she had chosen to use a different identity: “I had hoped to keep this secret a little longer because being Robert Galbraith has been such a liberating experience.
“It has been wonderful to publish without hype or expectation and pure pleasure to get feedback under a different name.”
After a struggle to get the first Harry Potter book published, JK Rowling became one of the fastest bestselling authors of all time, only a few behind the likes of Shakespeare and Enid Blyton.
The Harry Potter series is still popular with both adults and children, and has spawned the movie franchise. With such great approval, it’s always going to be hard to follow the success even further.
Fans eagerly anticipated the author’s next novel. Publishing her first adult fiction book last year The Casual Vacancy, the novel which was about a small town racked with political infighting, received a mixed response from critics and sold quite well.
However, this was not the case with The Cuckoo’s Calling, which left readers asking how a male author could describe a women’s clothes so well!
The novel centers on an injured war veteran turned crime detective Cormoran Strike, who’s called in to investigate a models death.
